about

Act III
Last spring I went on a motorcycle trip that had me coming back home through Midway Road, absolutely beautiful springtime fields and flowers and trees around me, with dark clouds rolling in behind, threatening to catch us before we made it back home. There's something that stuck with me about that scene; seeing nature, calm and verdant and serene, full of trees and birds and other little creatures, seeking shelter before the rain hits, and at the same time seeing nature as dark and imposing, a kind but destructive and fearful force. It is all the more special to be able to fly through this scene on a motorcycle, a chiaroscuro to the rest of the environment, metal and fire and humanity.

So what is this song about? It tells the story of this scene from the perspective of the motorcyclist. You are the wind, you are the thunder. You, the sorceress, are here to choose to embrace or reject nature, embodied by the Seraphim. The rain is calm, and comforting, but it is not without danger and thunder, as are many things that we encounter in life.
